LinkedIn Likes Me — They Really Like Me!

Is this a ploy by LinkedIn to make me feel special by denoting I’m in the top 1% of the business networking class? If I had been in the top 1% of my high school class at St. Joe’s, I assume I would’ve been rewarded with a full ride to the university of my choice. I wasn’t.  So what will LinkedIn provide? A few free “InMails”? A free one-month upgrade? Nope. It will just have me pander its promotion sans perks.

So LinkedIn — well played. The promotion made me feel somewhat elite, encouraged me to link back to your site, (which I obviously do multiple times a day or else you wouldn’t have ranked me as high), and I of course re-posted it to my network, boosting its viral intent. I did feel more legit when I saw other friends with posts of “Top 5%” and “Top 10%”. Aha, I have them beat!

200 Million members is a milestone. Do you think Monster.com ever came close? Apparently not. LinkedIn is the best professional networking site out there, it’s for job seekers, recruiters, small biz owners, stalkers, influencers, showoffs, the curious…It’s the lazy job seeker’s main tool. Just post, refresh, pay for the upgrade and the jobs will find you.

And this is one of my favorite features:

Here’s a tip if you want to stalk people, ahem, I mean check out their work experience on LinkedIn and don’t want them to know: In your profile settings, you can choose to “Select what others see when you’ve viewed their profile.” There are three options, one of which is complete anonymity.

Thanks LinkedIn, you’ve made my DigiDay!
